Chapter 17: Breathing
| （六） 可貴敬 | 6. Respectable |

| 聞如是： 一時，佛在舍衛國、祇樹、給孤獨園。 | 1. Thus I have heard:1 One time, the Buddha was staying at Anāthapiṇḍada’s Park in Jeta’s Grove of Śrāvastī. |
| 爾時，世尊告諸比丘： 「正見眾生所念、所趣及諸餘行，一切盡可貴敬。 世間人民所可貪樂。 所以者何？ 以其正見妙故。 | 2. It was then that the Bhagavān addressed the monks, “All the thoughts, destinations, and other actions of sentient beings with right views are entirely respectable. Worldly people are delighted by them. Why is that? Because their right views are wonderful. |
| 「猶如有諸甜菓。 若甘蔗、若蒲桃菓，及諸一切甘美之菓，有人修治良地，而取種之。 然後生子。 皆悉甘美，人所貪樂。 所以然者？ 以其菓子本甘美故。 | 3. “It’s like sweet fruits. Suppose someone cultivates good soil and then plants sugarcane, mangos, or any other sweet fruit. Afterward, the seeds grow. All [their produce] is sweet tasting, and people desire it. Why is that? It’s because those fruit seeds are the source of the sweetness. |
| 「此正見眾生亦復如是。 所念、所趣、及諸餘行，一切皆可貪樂。 世間人民無不喜者。 所以者何？ 以其正見妙故。 | 4. “These sentient beings with right views are likewise. All their thoughts, destinations, and other actions are respectable. There aren’t any worldly people who aren’t delighted by them. Why is that? It’s because their right views are wonderful. |
| 「是故，諸比丘，當習行正見。 如是，諸比丘，當作是學。」 | 5. “Therefore, monks, you should cultivate right view. Thus, monks, you should train yourselves.” |
| 爾時，諸比丘聞佛所說歡喜，奉行。 | 6. When the monks heard what the Buddha taught, they rejoiced and approved. |
